A practical, no-nonsense checklist for buying custom electric standing desks from a China OEM factory — written by the manufacturer.
If you sell standing desks, gaming desks or ergonomic office furniture, at some point you will face the same question: should you buy finished products from a trading company, or work with an electric desk OEM manufacturer that builds to your spec? For sellers who want their own brand, better margins and consistent quality, the answer is almost always the second option.
We are Zhuhan Furniture Co., Ltd., the manufacturer behind the CHEUKHAM brand, based in Shunde, Guangdong — the heart of China's furniture industry. Our factory has built thousands of electric desks for brands in North America, Europe and Southeast Asia. This guide is the checklist we wish every buyer had before their first inquiry.
A custom OEM program turns a commodity desk into your product. The practical benefits:
A serious desk OEM manufacturer should offer customization at four levels: logo/branding (laser-engraved or printed logos, custom packaging), colors (frame powder-coat colors, desktop finishes), materials (desktop thickness, steel gauge, motor brand options) and configuration (sizes, keyboard trays, monitor risers, cable trays). Ask the factory to state, in writing, which of the four levels each model supports. If the answer is "logo only", you are talking to a reseller, not a factory.
Many large OEM factories demand 500+ units per model. That kills young brands. A flexible manufacturer will let you start with a small bulk order, validate the market, then scale. Our own policy is deliberately flexible: new buyers can start small, and volume pricing tiers reward growth. Never accept a huge MOQ as "normal" — it is a choice the factory makes, and you can choose a factory that grows with you.
Electric desks have motors, control boxes and moving parts — this is where cheap manufacturing fails. Ask about:
For Europe, ask about CE-related documentation for the electronics; for North America, UL/ETL-class documentation is commonly requested by retailers. A factory with a registered trademark and proper export documentation (commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading support) makes customs clearance dramatically smoother. Our CHEUKHAM trademark is registered in Class 20 (furniture) and Classes 9/11 (electronics) — something to verify about any partner, because it shows how seriously they treat their own export business.
Time-zone delays are normal; 4-day delays are a warning. Agree on a response window before you order. We guarantee English replies within 24 hours, and every inquiry gets one dedicated contact from sample to delivery — no hand-offs between sales reps who have never seen your file.
Ask for a line-item breakdown: frame, desktop, motor package, packaging, and what is included in the quote (does it include the control panel? the cable tray?). "Surprise" add-ons after the PO is signed are the oldest trick in the book. We publish instant quotes and keep the structure visible — if a factory cannot itemize its own price, it does not understand its own cost, and you will pay for that later.
Foshan/Shunde sits within easy trucking distance of the major Pearl River Delta ports (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong), which keeps sea freight competitive for both FCL and LCL. A good OEM partner coordinates the freight booking and hands you clean export documents. If your market is Europe, ask about the documentation they provide; if North America, ask how they handle the extra packaging needs of FBA-style shipments.
